We were up and running pretty much from day one
Trading for over 35 years, and now operating from its two substantial depots in West and East London, Toga Hire Centres provide a comprehensive service throughout London and the Home Counties. Their product range is vast and ever growing and their friendly and knowledgeable staff are always pleased to offer advice and assistance with customer requirements. Toga prefer major brands with a proven track record for quality such as Makita, DeWalt, JCB and many more, but they are happy to provide specific brands and more unusual products on request.
The company has recently been re-awarded the prestigious Hire and Rental SafeHire Certification quality mark. This highly sought after award is the industry benchmark, which covers all aspects of safe hire and rental, and is annually reviewed to ensure the highest possible standards are adhered to. The company had to undergo a rigorous inspection, which included a long and detailed check that their operation met stringent Safety and Quality Criteria.
Toga decided to introduce Syrinx in 2007.Russell Gould, Managing Director, says, “We were looking for a package that could offer flexibility and that could link into the database as we do a lot of external reporting. We chose Higher Concept Software and Syrinx because our suggestions are listened to and get acted upon. We were looking for a company that would listen to us for development requests. Collecting equipment is our biggest problem and we needed a good system for this.”
Russell reports that staff adapted to the new system very quickly. “Day to day our staff found it very easy to pick up and use, and are impressed with what they can do on the system. Implementation was smooth as we managed to import data rather than having to re-input it, so we were up and running pretty much from day one. It was a huge advantage.” Toga say they are “very impressed” with Syrinx.
Russell explains, “I think the hire contract management side is very good as it’s compatible with our other packages.” Russell comments that he finds the Support Desk helpful too. “I rang them two or three times today because I’ve been playing around with the web module to change colours, and wanted to find out which bits go where. They’re very good actually.”

Toga’s overall impression of Syrinx is extremely positive. Russell says, “We can now provide a better service and better information to our customers. Before it was half computerised and half manual, but now our customers get inundated with information from us, and they like the idea that we’re keeping an eye out for them. We can deal with any issues very quickly.” He summarises by stating, “Syrinx has been developed to almost exactly what we would have designed ourselves.”
