Clements Plant Hire Ltd is a leading Midlands based independent hirer, whose products and services include plant hire; such as mini excavators and ride-on rollers, Bobcat skid steers, access equipment, and site machinery including mixers, pumps and concrete tools, tool hire and consumable sales. Clements also offer a comprehensive range of training programmes, undertaken at their Coventry depot, or on customers’ premises. The company specialises in access industry training, and can also offer courses for Ladder & Steps, Excavators, Securing Loads, and Materials Handling.
John Jennings, Chairman of Clements, says they chose to implement Syrinx four years ago. “Time moves on, and corporate systems and the people involved change. We were previously using a system that was not fit for purpose, supported by a company that was similarly not fit for purpose. We started to look at what other independent companies were using, and quickly realised that a common denominator for successful businesses was Syrinx. We requested a demonstration and found it very user friendly, much more than previous systems we’d had. Our team quickly felt comfortable with the system. We went live within 3 to 4 months and it was probably the easiest change of software we’ve ever had.”
Clements find many of the features that Syrinx provides indispensable. John reports, “It’s very user friendly at the front end and gives the ability to have all the necessary checks and balances in place. I find the integration of Asset Register and damage reporting useful, as well as the staff development module. It’s a well thought out, friendly system to operate and presents customers with data they can understand. Syrinx generates clear invoices, in plain English. But one of the great benefits is to be able to easily and accurately control charges for loss and damage.”
Staff have used the Higher Concept support desk on occasion, but John says that the number of calls Clements make per month is small compared to previous systems they have had. “The technicians don’t assume you know a lot about computers, and they talk you through the solution. Most of the time the problem or issue is solved there and then. We’ve been looking for a long time for a product like Syrinx.”
